Hustle Bustle, Hurry Scurry
Hustle bustle, hurry scurry, Christmas time’s a chore.
Putting off till now the gifts we didn’t do before.
We wait in lines, we shop till late, we wish that it was done.
We buy the gifts and wrap and wrap until there’s one or none.
We’re not done yet, there’s parties and Christmas dinner, too.
So then we shop some more and think there’s nothing left to do.
But what about the cookies and the candies we should make!
So we shop some more and then we bake and bake...and bake.
So there now! That's all done so we sit back and relax.
And pride ourselves for thinking that now we’re done at last!
Is there something we’ve forgotten? Is there anything to get?
Good grief! We remember that the Christmas cards aren’t sent!
So out we go a shopping to choose those cards to send.
One for dad and mom, the kids, the preacher and our friends.
We write a note on all those cards beside our late night lamp.
And now we’re done! Or are we? We can’t seem to find a stamp!
So here we are out shopping! The post office lines are long.
We wonder when we’ll have the time to sing a Christmas song.
We’ve tried so hard to do the things that Christmas seems to bring.
It’s been a hussle bussle that didn’t allow our hearts to sing.
How did God prepare His gift for us without the hurry scurry?
How did God send His Son to save us...without all the worry?
God only ask we think of Him and what He gifted us
And praise Him for the babe so dear He gave us without fuss.
God only meant to send His Son upon that bed of hay
To bring us everlasting love on that first Christ-mas day.
God never meant that Christmas should be any fuss or worry.
His Son was born to give us hope and peace without the hurry scurry.
So when on Christmas morning after gifts are said and done
And our hearts sing out the joy and we praise God for His Son...
Let's have ourselves a merry little Christmas...for we let the babe inside
To give us joy and peace and love...God's gift...to be our guide.
