        Onesime (Lynch Somers) Saumier was born in St. Anicet, Quebec. Sometime in 1867 Onesime, Marie Marguerite and there children Jean-Baptiste, Antoine, and François with about 50 other families left St. Anicet, Quebec, Canada and headed to the Georgian Bay area of Ontario, Canada. Sometime after arriving in Simcoe County, Onesime not being able to read or write, and with the Scottish influenece of that area became Lynch Somiers, later written Somers. The Somers name was passed down to all of his children and their decendants.

        Marguerite was the housekeeper of the Lighthouse at Midland Pte., Simcoe, Ontario. Marguerite and her husband Lynch traded off & on with the Indians when living in Midland Pte. Whenever their daughter Josephine misbehaved they could always get her to behave properly by telling her that they would trade her off to the Indians....
