We have just recieved word that Jim Richardson the head womens swim coach at the University of Michigan will be speaking on Saturday August 19th. As some of you may remember a few years ago Jim spoke at our clinic and did an outstanding job. I have not recieved his topic as of yet but as soon as I do I will post it. I hope all coaches will make a genuine effort to attend our clinic this year!!
I apologize for the lateness of the information regarding our Fall Clinic. Our original plans to host it on August 11/12 had to be changed in order to find a clinic speaker due to the Olympic Trials. We were able to move the clinic to the following week-end of August 18/19 however both I and Speedo still have not been able to secure a speaker. Attending our clinic will be Dan Murphy present diving coach and NISCA's Co-Chair of the High School All-American selection commitee. He will be bringing with him videos of divers as he will be doing a portion of our clinic on juding diving. This is an area where some coaches feel uncomfortable. Hopefully this will be of benefit to all those who are juding diving this upcoming girls season.
You should be receiving our brochure shortly. We will again be back at the Holiday Inn in Cedar Falls (319-277-2230) Room rates are the same as last year and we will be following pretty much the same format. There will be golfing Friday morning (10 am) for all those able to attend. Just give me a call or e-mail me. If we do not have another clinician by the time our brochure is ready to be mailed, I will post the information on our website as soon as its available.
Many coaches have been asking to have the rules meeting at our clinic this year however it has been decided by the IHSAA that they will adhere to their regular meeting dates of: August 14(Carroll HS) August 15(Linn-Mar HS) August 16(Bettendorf HS) August 17(Valley West Des Moines HS) and the make-up meeting on August 31 @10am at the IHSAA Office in Boone.
I am also in the process of re-doing our website so that it is more user friendly. So if you have any suggestions as to some of the items you would like to see on our home page by all means let me know. See you in Cedar Falls in a few weeks.
