Article I – Objective of the Club
1. To foster a lifetime interest in swimming with the emphasis being on the swimmers enjoying themselves not winning.
2. To improve the competitive swimming skills of the swimmers.
Article II – Qualifications of Swimmers
1. Will be under the age 19 as of August 31 for the swimming year.
2. Able to swim the 1 length (25 meters) of the pool without touching the sides.
3. S.W.O.R.S.A. will allow S.N.C., A.N.C. or other carded swimmers to compete in S.W.O.R.S.A. only after their current affiliation registration has expired.
Article III – Executive
1. The Executive of the Club shall include:
a) President
b) Vice President
c) Secretary
d) Treasurer
e) Meet Coordinator
f) Head Coach
h) Press/Web site
2. The Executive of the club shall be elected yearly, at the general membership meeting in March, by the parent / guardian of the swimmers. If this cannot be done, the existing Executive will remain in office until a new Executive is elected at either a special membership meeting or the next general membership meeting.
The normal term of office will be from April 1 of the current year to March 31 of the following year.
3. The President shall,
a) Chair all meetings.
b) Attend and represent the club at the SWORSA meetings
c) Call all meetings as required.
d) Responsible for the smooth operation of the club.
4. The Vice President shall,
a) Chair all meetings in the absence of the president.
5. The Secretary shall,
a) Prepare and keep all minutes of meetings.
b) Keep the signed waver forms
c) Prepare a list of swimmers whose parents or guardians have signed the waver form.
6. The Treasure shall,
a) Take charge of club funds by collecting membership dues and paying bills.
b) Preparing financial reports for meetings.
c) Ordering trophies and medals
7. The Meet Coordinator shall,
a) Arrange for volunteers for all home meets
b) Book the pool for home meets.
c) Notify the concession booth of dates for swim meet.
d) Arrange / prepare the ribbons for home swim meets.
8. The Head Coach shall,
a) Mentor the other coaches.
b) Prepare a schedule for which coaches will be at each practice.
c) Determine which lane would best suit the swimmer skill level
d) Organize relay teams for swim meets
9. Press/Web site
a) Prepare and place ads for annual meeting and for registration
b) Prepare write up of swim meet results
c) Keep web site up to date
d) Maintain group e-mail list
Article IV – Meetings
1. General Membership meeting – shall be held annually in March.
This meeting will approve the budget and set the fees for the coming season.
2. Coaches meetings - will be arranged by the head coach as required.
Article V – General
1. All motions concerning Constitutional Amendments and items of a monetary value over $100.00 (with the exception of approved budget) must be recorded in the minutes and voted on.
2. Fees for all sessions will be voted on at the annual meeting.
3. Dates for which each session will run will be voted on at regular monthly meetings.
4. Practices will be held on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M.
5. All coaches (over the age of 18) are required to have a police background check.
6. There needs to be at least two lifeguards (Pool employee’s) on duty during all practices and at least one lifeguard on deck during the practice.
7. Only swimmers who’s parent or guardian have reviewed and accepted / signed the waiver on the application form shall be allowed to participate in team practices and / or swim meets.
8. All waivers / application forms shall be kept for seven years after the swimmer turns 18 years old.
Article VI – Protection of Club Executive and Coaches
The club in conjunction with the other swim clubs in SWORSA shall maintain insurance.
The Kippers welcome the help of any interested parent or former team member.
