English II

English II continues the introduction to literature and composition that begins with English I in the freshman year.  This class builds on the learning of freshman year and develops a student’s ability to examine literature through author studies and instruction in the four dimensions of learning.  A copy of the tentative booklist is available online.

Many of our topics will require significant additional investigation outside of class. Below are some resources that may help us in our research:

  • Dictionary - for etymologies and specific definitions
  • Vocabulary words that might prove difficult in the year's reading
  • Sentence Diagramming will be how we will study grammar for a large part of the year.
  • Cheap books - get your own copies to write in and mark up; the only way to read!
