I am honored to have been recognized as the first recipient of the
Outstanding Mexican Folklorico Dance Teacher award
in 2005 given by Texas A&M International University
for my endless contributions to the folklorico dance community.
Aw, shucks!

Hola, y bienvenidos! A Cybear Fiesta??  Of course; we're in cyberspace, after all, and I love Teddy Bears!  Within these pages you'll find links to Mexican folklorico information and resources, as well as photos of exotic and creative costumes from Austin's Carnaval Brasileiro!   The hyperlinks scattered throughout my site contain lots of goodies - just as if you'd broken open a piñata!

But wait!  The fiesta is just beginning!

I am a great-uncle!! "Guerito" and Kiara are growing fast and are such cuties!!!  They have been joined by Guerito's brother, Nicolas, and Kiara's sister Jaelyn made her appearance March 3rd!

Questions such as, "Michael? Well, he's a really nice guy, but what do we really know about him?" might be answered by visiting the pages linked below to find out more about me and the things I enjoy doing.  Be sure to click on the links or you may miss the best parts!!  Searching for new recipes?   Trying to find some special music?  All that and more is waiting for you inside!!!

My favorite color is blue.

I love to snack on cookies!  My brother used to refer to me as ‘the cookie monster’!  My students love to relax in my living room as we enjoy Oreos, Teddy Grahams, or whatever I happen to have on hand.

My passion is ballet folklórico and I was Coach (Director/Choreographer) El Grupo de Danza y Arte Folklórico de la Universidad de Tejas, also known as the U.T. Ballet Folklórico for 29 1/2 years.  As one of the founding members of this student organization (Fall of 1975) I helped to ensure its continued success throughout 29 years!  I truly enjoyed our 25 year anniversary and reunion in 2000!!!  In the past, I've also consulted with Roy Lozano's Ballet Folklórico de Texas; I was among the folks who were instrumental during the company's formative years.

I'm a survivor, and have an incredible sense of humor.

I treasure the friendships I’ve made and the countless memories we’ve created together throughout the years.  I miss my best friend of over 18 years, who I lost in March of ’94.  Memories and occasional dreams sustain me.

I choreographed a waltz and a 'routine' to Ricky Martin's 'La Copa de la Vida' for a Quinceañera in December of '99.  Feel free to contact me if you'd like me to work with your party!

I'm a Notary Public for the State of Texas.

I'm now working at Austin Heart's newest office, located South.  I've held positions at Austin Regional Clinic as a PSR, as a Business Systems Consultant in the Travis County Purchasing Office, and for the City of Austin for 12 years.  I began my City service in 1987 at the Health & Human Services Department in their Human Resources unit, then took a promotional opportunity at the Electric Dept. in 1990 (now Austin Energy Services).

I’m a 99% teetotaler (I enjoy an occasional wine cooler or glass of wine; no beer, no hard liquor for me!).  I prefer my soft drinks with ‘easy’ ice.  I chew my food thoroughly and am almost always the last to finish a meal when among a group of diners.  I can recommend several restaurants in Austin - just ask!   Among my favorites are Juan in a Million (tacos), Maudie's (carne guisada), El Mercado (enchiladas verdes de pollo), Los Comales (enchiladas de mole and thick corn tortillas), just to name a few!!

I attended The University of Texas at Austin from 1974 through 1978, and again in '82-'83, but I have yet to finish my degree.  I started in the Business School, studying to be a CPA, but ended in Liberal Arts studying Spanish for Teacher Certification.

I’m an excellent listener.

What’s that, you say?  You want to know more?  Well, you’ll have to follow the links below to read more, see pictures, and read more about me.
