If you are a whale lover like I am, then you'll enjoy this web page. I have
been in love with whales since I can remember. Just last year May 9,1996 my dad
took me on a once in a lifetime trip to go see Keiko the killer whale. It was
such a thrill. I absolutely loved it. My dad and I were able to take a back
stage tour and were able to meet Keiko and his trainers personaly. Well anyways
as we all know whales are being taken captive of from their homes in the ocean
and people are teaching them tricks to perform in front of people, which isnt
fair to the whales, like Keiko. As we all know or heard Keiko was taken out of
his home when he was 2 years old. He was bought and sold to 3 different
aquariums until he ended up in Mexico City, Mexico. By the time Rio Aventura
bought Keiko he was 16 years old. Then on January 7, 1996 Keiko was transported
to an aquarium in Newport, Oregon. His time there has been over a year now and
he has stopped performing, but he still performs for the admirers down at his
viewing windows which is what he really enjoys. Sometimes he'll just sit there
and stare at you for a few seconds. He has been doing great since he got there and there is a good chance for release. In July a weigh-in went on to see how much weight Keiko has gained since he has been there. It turned out to be a great deal gained. That tells us that Keiko is doing so much better than when he first got there.
