MEMORIES

I remember days of laughter
Though they seem so long ago
When my body was supple
I could do anything you know

The stairs were such a short jaunt
Now they are mountains in my eyes
Every step's a struggle
And now my body cries

My hands that once did laces
Will not cooperate
My children do my shoes up now
Do I owe it all to fate

The temple that once held my soul
Has turned to ruins through the years
And as I look back at what it was
I fight back the many tears
