On May 31,1911 lots of people assembled in Belfast near "Harland & Wolff" dockyard to be present at Titanic's hull launch.
Titanic was the greatest and latest builted ship for the "White Star Line":it was 260 m. long and had been realized with the most advanced technology to reach for the loftest speed without compromising the comfort offered by "White Star Line".
Its machines moved by steam were the greatest never builted,with 28 boilers ,6.1m and 4.8 m each,and with three extreme ovens.These boilers could make a 15 kg/cm2 pressure ,using up 728 tons of carbon in 24 hours.
The produced steam were moving Parsons whirls ,which were generating 51000 hp and giving to ship a 21 knots speed.
"White Star Line" was boasting Titanic was an unsinkable ship because its hull was provided with a double deep bottom of 1.83m,which was spreading on all lenght of the ship .
Between prow and breast were been obtained 16 watertight compartments,separated by 15 bulkheads ,that was extending over floating line .Over these compartments' access there were doors like guillotine:in an emergency case ,a switch on headquarters bridge would have closed these bulkheads to block water invading the compartments.With four of them floaded ,Titanic would have been saved:on the night of April 14,1912 the first five back compartments were floaded.
On April,1997 a scientist equipe (between them there was the naval architecht William Garzke) has examinated with sonar the relict ,lying at 4000 m. deep,discovering it wouldn't have been the impact with iceberg to break down the Titanic's keel,but the opening of six splits on the right side,about 7 m. under floating line .The water seeped through these opening has caused the prow 's inabyssing,while the breast has remained over water level for two hours at least ,causing a strongest pressure which has broken the ship in two.
