Life Is A Banquet

The Crooked Hearts

This was Roz' last movie (ABC/1972) and it's a keeper. Quite cute, it stars she and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. (recently deceased May 2000) as mutual con artists. Only one is more conniving than the other! Maureen O'Sullivan (Mia Farrow's mom) and Ross Martin of "The Wild, Wild West" tv show fame, also co-star. There are also cameos with then newcomers Penny Marshall and Dick Van Patten!

From TV Guide, October 14, 1972:

Much of "Crooked Hearts" was shot on location, and Miss Russell was the center of attraction for fans who gathered to watch, signing autographs and chatting with anyone who approached her. Miss Russell also received the full star treatment from the studio. Each morning a hairdresser and make-up man went to her home to prepare her for the day's shooting, and she was driven to work in a limousine. When producer Frederick Brisson, Rosalind Russell's husband, visited one day, Miss O'Sullivan mentioned to him that the couch being used in the set had originally been Darryl F. Zanuck's. "How did you know?" said Miss Russell, as Maureen blushed furiously.
