My name is Michael John Cunningham but you can call me Mike. I was born in Philadelphia, (actually just outside, but I didn’t know then) and have lived here since that scorching Monday in June of 1973. When you look back on a life that has only lasted 25 years, that’s like 3 in dog years, you wonder about what has made you who you are, what you think about, and where you are going.
I can trace what my life was going to be like back to the very day I was born. That night guest hosting on the Tonight Show was John Denver of country-folk music and Muppet fame. And from that moment on I have devoted my life to stopping that from ever happening again!!!! (I will not admit to forgetting to gas up his plane nor will I admit to providing him with any alcohol).
And just like the opening sequence of HBOs great show “Dream On”, I am sitting in front of the television set watching reruns of the Lone Ranger, Land of the Lost, and the Jack Benny Show.
I loved the Jack Benny show so much that I thought every black man on TV was Rochester and all I wanted for Christmas was a Jack Benny doll! Never got it. I did get a Lone Ranger doll, however.
Basically television, in fact all of the media, is my life. That’s why when I entered La Salle University in 1991, I majored in Communications. And that’s why it’s 1999 and I have yet to graduate. My career goals include : television star in the form of (actor, news or sports anchor/reporter, play-by-play announcer for football, baseball, golf or pro wrestling, talk-show host, or writer), Film star in the form of (actor, writer, director, producer, grip, caterer), Radio star in the form of (news annoucer, play-by-play announcer for football or baseball, local disc jockey, or the number 2 radio personality in America), See My Resume.
I lead a good life with many leisure pursuits. I like to read (I’m currently reading Engines of God by Jack McCafferty. My web-page probably tells you a little more about what my other pursuits, so come back often. Please E-mail me at hamradio@geocities.com and let me know what you think of my page, my pursuits, my pickles. I needed another “p” sorry!
