Our Mission

Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian and bisexual persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.

The Everett Chapter

In early 1995, Chad Lupkes of Orion at Twilight realized that PFLAG was needed in Everett and Snohomish County. He contacted the National Office in Washington DC, and asked for local contacts.

At the same time, Pat Kurz was underway getting local contacts after making a promise to the local GLOBE Chapter that there would be a chapter of PFLAG going before the beginning of the 1995-1996 school year. It was just luck that these two people found each other and combined their efforts.

The results of this combination was the chapter that began in October of 1995. Our first meeting was attended by Marilyn Cass from Seattle, who brought up a lot of good information and assistance from the strong Seattle Chapter.

Currently, the chapter is lead by Thomas Blossom, and the chapter is growing strong under his leadership.
