Article I The name of this organization shall be the Yuma Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Article II Mission Statement. The City of Yuma Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary exists to help foster support of the fire department personnel, their families, members of the auxiliary, and the Yuma community.
Article III Members. Section 1: Membership is limited to the spouse, and significant other of an active or retired department member. Section 2: Members are requested to participate in at least half of all auxiliary functions. Section 3: The dues of this organization shall be $5.00 per member, per year payable in advance, on or before the annual September elections meeting. Section 4: Dues are non-refundable.
Article IV Officers. The officers of this organization shall be a president, a vice-president, a secretary, a historian and a treasurer. These officers shall be elected at each annual September meeting. An officer may hold the same office for not more than two consecutive years. If an officer will miss a meeting they must notify another officer. If three consecutive unexcused absences occur the officer will be asked to resign their position.
Article V Meetings. Section 1: The auxiliary will hold general meetings once per month and the meeting place will be decided at each previous meeting. Section 2: Special meetings may be called on the recommendation of an officer. Members will be notified of any such meeting by phone at least 24 hours in advance. Section 3: The annual elections meeting shall be held in September of each year. Section 4: Meetings for members of the Board will be called on an as needed basis in order to organize and prepare for auxiliary meetings for upcoming events.
Article VI Committees. Section 1: Committees will be formed according to the yearly goals of the organization. Section 2: A chairperson will be elected for each committee. This person may call meetings as needed to monitor committee performance and progress and make reports back to the auxiliary. Section 3: Auxiliary members are encouraged to participate in at least one committee.
Article VII Voting. Section 1: One-third of the current membership shall constitute a quorum at any meeting of the organization. Section 2: All decisions will be made based on a vote taken by a quorum of the auxiliary. All votes will carry a simple majority ruling. Section 3: Members must be present to cast a vote on any issue. Section 4: All votes shall be taken by a show of hands, except the annual election of officers, which shall be taken by secret ballot.
Article VIII Conduct. Section 1: Members shall conduct themselves in an orderly, courteous manner at all times. Section 2: Dress shall be appropriate and members should keep in mind that the fire station is a public facility. Section 3: Abusive profanity will not be tolerated. Section 4: The members of the auxiliary are representative of the Ladies Auxiliary, the Fire Department, and the Yuma community, and all members’ conduct should reflect accordingly.
Article IX Special outgoing money. Out going money for designated events such as child-birth, school graduation, etc., will be determined at a later date once auxiliary funds have been established.
Article X Amendment to the By-laws. These by-laws may be amended at any regular meeting of the organization by a two-thirds vote, provided notice was given at the previous meeting. |
