Thanksgiving 2000

Our portrait waiting for the parade.

This is the turkey float that starts the parade.

Mickey Mouse

This is Kathleen with the starting banner of the parade behind her.

Big Bird.

As Big Bird went by we got our picture taken.

On Thanksgiving Day 2000 Kathleen and I went into Manhattan for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I had been before but she has never been there. She said she always wanted to go, so we made it happen this year. We got up early and drove in. Our vantage point was at 72nd and Central Park West, on the central park side of the street. That is the same place my Uncle and his family always go. Unfortunatley they were unable to make it this year.
The parade started around 9am with the banner seen above on the right with Kathleen. There were a ton of people there. Not too bad though, we got a front row seat and could see everything. We saw Emril from the Food Network, Joe Torre from the Yankees, the guy from Blues Clues, the sesamie street characters, santa clause, and a bunch of other floats. The best part was the baloons. Fortunatley it was very calm that day. There was a forecast that projected high winds that morning, but that never happened.
We saw Garfield, Spider Man, Mickey, Big Bird, Blue, Arthur, and a bunch of baloons I can't remember. We both enjoyed watching all the baloons go by. We were dressed well and stayed warm, we also had some hot chocolate in a thermos that we brought. It was a great time. We watched the end of the parade and made it home in time to watch the end of the parade on tv. We were so close to the beginning that it took an hour for santa to get to the cameras. That was intresting.

To finish it all off Santa brought the Christmas season with him at the end of the parade.
