Grief is a powerful thing. It's a good thing, a healing thing. It's a way to let go of a lot of pain. But it's something to go through, not hold on to.

          When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

          When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see;
          If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me;
I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today,
while thinking of the many things we didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me, as much as I love you,
          and each time you think of me I know you'll miss me too;
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand,
that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand,
and said my place was ready in heaven far above,
and that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye,
for all life, I'd always thought I didn't want to die.
I had so much to live for and so much yet to do,
it seemed almost impossible that I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared and all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday, I thought, just for awhile,
I'd say goodbye and kiss you and maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized that this could never be,
for emptiness and memories would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things that I'd miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven's gates, I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me, from His great golden throne,
He said, "This is eternity and all I've promised you".
Today for life on earth is past but here it starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last,
and since each day's the same day, there's no longing for the past.
But you have been so faithful, so trusting, and so true.
Though there were times you did some things you knew you shouldn't do.
But you have been forgiven and now at last you’re free.
So won't you take my hand and share my life with me?
So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart,
for every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart.

          God Is With You

Although each day brings challenges and things that unknown,
          You needn't face them by yourself or deal with them alone;
For others care about you and will keep you close in prayer'
And, above all, God will guide you ~ for His love is always there.

          Heaven's Special Child

A meeting was held quite far from earth
"It's time again for another birth,"
Said the Angels of the Lord above,
"This Special Child will need much love,"
          Her progress may seem very slow;
          Accomplishments she may not show.
And she'll require much extra care
From all the folks she meets down there.
She may not laugh or run or play,
Her thoughts may seem quite far away.
In many ways she won't adapt,
And she'll be known as 'handicapped'.
So let's be careful where she's sent,
We want her life to be content.
Please, Lord, find the parents who
Will do this special job for you.
They will not realize right away
The leading role they're asked to play,
But with the child from above,
Comes stronger faith and richer love.
And soon they'll know the privilege given
In caring for this gift from Heaven ~~
Their precious child so meek and mild
          Is "Heaven's Very Special Child."

          Mommy, Daddy

Mommy, Daddy, oh I miss you
And I know you’re missing me.
There are windows Here in Heaven
And every day I look and see.

          My little bed is empty
And your arms feel empty, too.
I can see the sadness in your face
          Mommy, Daddy, I love you.

          My music box is silent
But I don’t need to hear it play.
Mommy, Daddy, it’s not needed now
          Angels Here sing every day.

Please don’t worry that I’m lonely
          There are children everywhere.
We are all His special angels
And there’s so much love up Here.

Mommy, Daddy, I don’t hurt now.
          Here everyone’s like me!
We can run and jump and sing and dance
          If only you could see!

Mommy, Daddy, please don’t cry for me
          Heaven’s such a lovely place!
God says you did the very best
Your love shows in my face.

If and when you ever need me
          Mommy, Daddy, say a prayer.
I will see you through the windows
And I’ll hear your voice up Here.

          God's Lent Child

"I'll lend you for a little while a child of mine", God said...
"For you to love the while he lives and mourn for when he's dead.
          It may be one or two years or forty two or three;
But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you and (should his stay be brief)
You'll have his lovely memories as a solace for your grief.
          I cannot promise he will stay, since ALL from earth return;
But the lessons taught below I want this child to learn.
          I've looked the whole world over in search for teachers true;
And from the things that crowd life's lane ---
          I have chosen you.
Will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain?
Nor hate me when I come to take this lent child back again?"
I fancied that I heard them say, "Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For joys Thy child will bring the risk of grief we'll run.
We will shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may
And for the happiness we've known forever grateful stay.
But should Thy Angels call him much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the grief that comes, and try to understand.

          You're A Real Angel

If an Angel is someone who's so filled with love
It's a gift that they constantly share
If an Angel is someone who looks out for others
And gives them a nudge here or there
If an Angel is someone who touches your life
With a heart that's both joyful and wise
Then even though you don't have halo or wings
You're an Angel in human disguise.

          "Friends"

Friends come in different shapes, sizes and heights,
And that doesn't really matter, It's what they have inside.
I've been alot of places, And have made alot of friends,
Seen alot of faces, Even had a few grins.
You enter into a friendship, Sometimes totally blind,
To keep that friendship going, All you have to be is kind.
Now when you start a friendship, And that friendship grows,
You'll find it's through words that are spoken,
That's where their true beauty shows.
This poem may sound silly, But it comes from my heart,
And if you only think about it, That's where a friendship starts.
So if you ever wonder, What to look for in a friend,
Kindness, Love and Honesty, That's where you might begin.
You ask me how I know this, I'll tell you from the start,
I've found a "FRIEND" in "LYN", Whose got the kindest-sweetest "HEART".

          Troubles

The carpenter I hired to help me restore an old farmhouse had just finished a rough first day on the job. A flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric saw quit and now his ancient pickup truck refused to start.

While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands.

When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation. His tanned face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss.

Afterward, he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier. "Oh, that's my trouble tree," he replied. "I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing for sure, troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and children. So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home. Then in the morning I pick them up again. "Funny thing is," he smiled, "when I come out in the morning to pick em up, there aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before."

~ We should all plant some of these trees ~

          To Those I Love

When I am gone, release me, let me go ~~~
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears,
Be happy that we had so many years
I gave you my love. You can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now, it's time I traveled on alone.
So grieve awhile for me if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust,
It's only for awhile that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near ~~~
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear
All of my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile, and "Welcome home."
