Amateur genealogists, and newbees like myself, find research in foreign countries challenging. Actually, daunting is more like it. Where does one begin? As a first step, I've added this link to my "Home Page." I intend to leave my footsteps with the help of the Internet and my URL across the countries that are hiding my roots. Should you see my page and have suggestions, please don't hesitate to send an E-MAIL. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Mary Michl (Mitchell) (Photo) b. 18 Mar 1876 Ernsthausen, Hungary d. 3 Jan 1951 Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada (Gravesite Photo) Both John & Mary are buried at Brookside Cemetery. John has no headstone. Children born in Hungary: John, Mary, Peter, Lena, and Nicholas John & Mary emigrated to Canada between 1906-1916. Peter b. 1898 told the family that his town in Hungary was near the border of Austria and Hungary, near a large river, but no longer existed. His town like many in the region did not survive the wars. Peter left Canada for Chicago in the 1920's. His US citizenship papers and death certificate simply say, "born in Hungary."
