Welcome to Newfoundland and Labrador!

Here you will find a unique spirit of discovery and celebration; an experience you'll encounter no where else in North America.

We have over 1000 years of history and culture to celebrate, a history older than the colonial English, Irish and French who settled our shores four centuries ago. Newfoundland and Labrador is an old and refreshingly new experience that our visitors rediscover every year.

Newfoundland and Labrador is 156,648 square miles: three times larger than Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island combined. Newfoundland sits at the eastern end of the Gulf of St. Lawrence protecting the other Maritime provinces from the cold Atlantic Ocean. Newfoundland's terrain is distinct, with many rugged and beautiful places. The scenery around the island is magnificient.

Motorists can cross Newfoundland on the fully paved Trans Canada Highway, a distance of 565 miles from Port anx Basques to St. John's. At intervals along the way, regional road networks offer fascinating side trips off the beaten path.
