William was born Houlka, Chickasaw County, Mississippi Nov. 22, 1875. William was the son of Samuel Earl Mathis Sr. and Anna Elizabeth Foshee. William died Sept. 24, 1902 Oxford, Lafayette County, Mississippi, at 26 years of age. His body was interred aft. Sept. 24, 1902 Oxford, Lafayette County, Mississippi, Kingdom Cemetery. At 23 years of age William became the father of Baxter Cleland Mathis Lafayette County, Mississippi, Aug. 25, 1899. At 25 years of age William became the father of Daniel E. Mathis Oxford, Lafayette County, Mississippi, Feb. 7, 1901. (See William Edward Mathis for the continuation of this line.)

At 18 years of age Cordelia became the mother of Baxter Cleland Mathis Lafayette County, Mississippi, Aug. 25, 1899. At 19 years of age Cordelia became the mother of Daniel E. Mathis Oxford, Lafayette County, Mississippi, Feb. 7, 1901.
