If the Bible applies to me,

Those who quote the Bible to condemn homosexuality, often claim that the Bible is clear, and not open to interpetation.
If this is true, do they also obey these Scriptures?
"And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the
whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire" (Lv. 21:9).
"Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy
conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee" (Gn. 3:16).
"When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth
forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets: then thou shalt cut off her
hand, thine eye shall not pity her" (De. 25:11-12)
.
"Speak unto the children
of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child:
then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the
separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean. But if she bear a maid
child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she
shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days" (Lv.12:2, 12:5).
"For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.
Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man" (1
Cor. 11:8-9).
"Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit
adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know
that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto
every one of you according to your works" (Rev. 2:22-23).
"But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the
head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God" (1 Cor. 11:3).
"But every woman that prayeth or phrophesieth with her head uncovered
dishonereth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven" (I
Cor. 11:5).
"Let the women learn in silence with all subjection" (I Pt.
2:11).
"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel,
with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls,
or costly array" (I Tm. 2:9).
"But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to
usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first
formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived
was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in
childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with
sobriety" (I Tm. 2:12-15).
"If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which
is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty
shekels of silvers, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her,
he may not put her away all his days" (De. 22:28-29).
"Wives, submit
yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the
head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the
saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let
the wives be to their own husbands in everything" (Eph. 5:22-24).
"Let your
women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to
speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for
it is a shame for women to speak in the church" (1 Cor. 14:34-35).
"And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness, and shall uncover
her nakedness; he hath discovered her fountain, and she hath uncovered the
fountain of her blood: and both of them shall be cut off from among their
people" (Lv. 20:18).
"And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you" (Lv. 11:10).
". . . Thou shall not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind:
thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment
mingled of linen and woolen come upon thee" (Lv. 19:19).
"Ye shall not eat
any thing with the blood [rare meat]: neither shall ye use enchantment
[sorcery], nor observe times [consult horoscopes]. Ye shall not round the
corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard. Ye
shall not. . . print any marks upon you" (Lv. 19:26-28).
"And whosoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day [the Sabbath], the same soul will I [God] destroy from among his people" (Lv. 23:30).
"A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit [is a medium], or
that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with
stones: their blood shall be upon them" (Lv. 20:27)
"For every one that
curseth his father or his mother shall surely be put to death: he hath
cursed his mother or his father; his blood shall be upon him. And the man
that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth
adultery with his neighbours' wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall
surely be put to death" (Lv. 20:9-10).
"Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery" (Mk. 10:11-12).
"But I say to you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of adultery, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery" (Mt. 5:32).
"And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except if be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery" (Mt. 19:9).
"For I [Paul] would that all men were even as I myself
[celibate]. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this
manner, and another after that. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows,
It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain
[control], let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. And unto
the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from
her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be
reconciled to her husband; and let not the husband put away his wife" (I
Cor. 7:7-11).
"Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondman and bondmaids. Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession" (Lv. 25:44-45).
"Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward [harsh]" (1 Pe. 2:18).
"Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness [sincerity] of your heart, as unto Christ" (Eph. 6:5).
"And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free: Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever" (Ex. 21:5-6).
". . . and whosoever shall say to his brother, Ra-ca [worthless], shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire" (Mt. 5:22).
"But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou has shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly" (Mt. 6:6).
"He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord. A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the Lord" (De. 23:1-2).
"Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God. For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous" (Lv. 21:17-18).
So what's my point?
It is that the Bible must be taken seriuously, not literally. Or to be fair, if we are going to pick and choose verses on which to "shut people out", judge them, condemn then, or whatever, well we better be prepared to have the same done to us!
Please focus on the Bible's overall messages: faith, hope, love, compassion, salvation. We miss those when we pick and choose out-of-context verses to use against each other.
Some will say the verses listed here are irrelevant, especially if these verses happen to be the ones that those people violate. But the verses someone else violates are, of course, all important. What convenient theology! What a comvient way of "trusting in God's word!"
I pray that God will teach us all to love each other, instead of warping the Bible into yet another excuse for hatred, violence, exclusion, and alienation.
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus" (Gl. 3:28).
"But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain" (Titus 3:9).
"But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant" (I Cor. 14:38).
"Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a
tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall
smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man
will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him take thy cloak
also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give
to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not
thou away. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy
neighbor, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless
them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which
despitefully use you, and persecute you" (Mt. 5:38-44).
