More about our club!

Raising guide dog puppies is a very rewarding job, but also a lot of hard work and commitment. In the last seven years we have had quite a few dogs go through the guide dog program that came from our club. All were male Labrador Retrievers. Our club has three pups right now (always hoping to add more!!). We always need new volunteer raisers, so if you are interested in raising a guide dog puppy and live in the Harney County area contact us. If you want to raise a guide dog puppy, but live somewhere else, check out Guide Dogs For The Blind's page at http://www.guidedogs.com/.

Canines in Coats 4-H club is composed of members from Burns, Hines and Crane Oregon. These three towns are very small (less than 10,000 people combined!). We have to travel a long ways to go to any guide dog events, so we try to work extra hard to ensure that our puppies get all of the socialization and exposure that they need before they are returned for their formal training at fourteen to sixteen months of age.
