Abraham died in the home of Nancy Jane Spencer James. Her son Johnny James, aged 20 at the time of Abraham's death gave the following description to Geneva Ward: "Abraham Spencer was a man about 5'10" tall and a "walking man". He walked to Missouri twice to see his mother. On the day of his death he had done a day's work and died of an apparent heart attack, falling from a walking gait." He is buried at the Richland Spring Cemetery, Texas, new San Saba.
