CHRISTMAS COUNT DOWN
Port Elgin held its annual Santa Claus parade on Saturday November 29, so
we know that Christmas is just around the corner. The parade was one of the
best. There were many beautiful floats, and every pick-up truck known to man.
Heaven help us if there was a fire, because every emergency vehicle was in
the parade, as well. Two of the most beautiful floats are shown below.
If you weren't in the parade, you had to be watching it. As the picture below, on the left,
shows, it was a barrel of fun. I found the float shown on the right to be very inspiring.
It was a tableau of a small town version of the 'Night Before Christmas'. The stockings was
hung on the pick-up with care, hoping Santi would fill-up the tank while there.
And, what Santa Claus parade would be complete without the jolly old elf, himself. Yes,
Santa arrived in Port Elgin, being pulled by his trusty reindeer (with some
assistance from Henry Ford).

Welcome to our family's home page. We live in
Port Elgin, Ontario (Canada), a town of about 6500
people located on the shores of Lake Huron. The
town is about 3 hours north west of Toronto, and about
4 hours north of Detroit. As Susan Hey would tell you,
we live in a 'traditional snow belt area', as if that
justifies the type of winter weather we experience.
The left picture above shows what it looked like out the
front of the house on January 17th, 1997. Here you can see the results
of 60 km/h winds and snow falling at the rate of 15 to
25 cm every six hours. You can see that the snow banks
out the front are almost even with the top of our minivan.
Thanks to this storm (the second in a
week) we got the day off. Schools were closed, and all
roads leading out of our town were closed as well. The picture on the right shows that summer does actually come to Port Elgin. This picture was taken on September 1, 1997, so summer is almost over and the kids are getting ready to go back to school. Is it any wonder that we like to take winter vacations where people wear heavy coats, gloves and scarfs when the temperature dips down to 15 degrees Celsius (or 59 degrees Fahrenheit)? In March we made a once in a lifetime trip to the Aloha state of Hawai'i. Below you will find a link to some pictures of our trip.
Below you will find links to our individual pages. If you're interested
in golf, and old movies, you might want to visit my page. Jennifer, has a lot
of cool links for kids. Carol has some weird and wonderful links.
We made quite a Splash at Disney's Splash Mountain, as you can see
from this picture. Two of our friends (at least they were our friends before
we talked them into going on this ride) are sitting in the second row.
You can select from the list below to visit our other pages
and links, or, if you are a little more adventurous, you can click different
areas in the picture. Not only does it show the faces of sheer terror, but it
is an Image Map.
Family Web Line Information
We have added our home pages to the family web line. The premise is simple. It's an effort to help families all around this great planet of
ours meet each other on the World Wide Web. This is how it works: A list is being kept, in
exact order, of families who have registered, forming one long line of families around the
Internet. If your family would like to join, simply click on the "Family Web Line" for more information.
Click on the left or right arrows to surf the line.
If your family has at least one adult and one child with a home page, you can list your pages with the web line. The other
stipulations are that there is no adult material on any of your pages, and that they are not commercial
in nature. When you join, you will be given the names of the family before you on the list, and the family
after you. You provide links to their pages on your home page. This provides a link to all pages on the
web by simply clicking on the left or right arrows below.
An unbelievable
people have visited this site since March 7, 1998. Who'd have thunk it!
