The Mid America Paso Fino Horse
Association was established in 1979 by a small collection of Paso Fino
breeding farms and individual Paso Fino owners. Since then, Mid America
PFHA has grown steadily as the grace and brio of the Paso Fino has grown
in popularity.
Mid America PFHA now encompasses a large
Midwest area, including the states of Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska,
North Dakota and South Dakota, as well as several members from outside
these states. Membership has grown to almost 200 members who own
approximately 400 registered Paso Finos.
Mid America PFHA members pursue a wide
variety of riding and showing interests across the region. Our members
compete both regionally and nationally at recognized shows, culminating
in the July Regional Show and the September Grand National show, where
regional and national champions are determined. The region holds
several trail rides annually, ranging from day and weekend rides to two-week
marathon excursions. Our members also participate in numerous parades,
all-breed shows, exhibitions and expos throughout the year.
In addition to our shows, trail rides,
and other activities, the region holds a horse riding and training clinic
and two fun shows, which provide a low-key, laid-back opportunity to work
out specific issues and show for fun and pleasure without the competition
of the formal show ring. We also hold several out of the saddle social
activities ranging from a chili bake to thte annual fall meeting and
awards ceremony.
Whether you are a new Paso Fino Owner,
Trainer, or Vendor, and old friend returning, or are just interested in
learning more about this spectacular and passionate breed of animal, we
join you to join the region, and join the fun!
