BREASTFEEDING STORIES

Do you have a heartwarming, sweet, or just down-right funny story about breastfeeding?  I'd love to hear about some of your breastfeeding experiences!  I will add your story to this page, and maybe even eventually include it in a written compilation of breastfeeding stories!  Enjoy, and happy nursing!

Caroline is not-quite two years old, and already she has a sense of humor!  She absolutely adores Barney, and she has a Barney puppet that she totes around everywhere.  One day she crawled into my lap for a quick "snuggle".  Usually when she nurses, she likes the other breast  "hanging out" . (makes nursing in public a challenge these days!!)  Anyway, she had Barney in one hand as she was nursing this time.  She put her hand inside the Barney puppet and put him up to the other breast.  She made his mouth move like he was sucking, and then she stopped nursing, sat up, and made the cutest smacking sound!  She laughed and said, "Barney snuggle too"!  It was the funniest thing!  --Amanda mom of Elizabeth 7 and Caroline 2

I too am a SAHM of three boyz, 4 1/2yrs, 3 1/2yrs, and 11 mos., yikes!  My older sons are very nonchalant about my BF, whenever baby Joseph cries they say, "I think you need to feed him, Mama, give him your breast."  Well, I'm glad someone knows the solution for a crying baby, 'cause sometimes I don't!

Baby Joe-fish (Joseph) is 11mos., never took a bottle or pacifier, and is just starting a sippy cup.  One day, about a month ago, he was nursing happily while I rocked in our living room.  My two older boyz were playing a very involved game of cars, and Joe-fish kept pulling off so he could watch the boyz.  Finally, I just sat him up on my lap and pulled my shirt down, figuring he was done.  Well, he gave me such a look!  He reached down and pulled my shirt back up, put a hand on one of my breasts, and continued watching the boyz!  It was as if he was saying, "Wait a second, those are my snack station, don't put them away yet.  I might want a sip!"  He had never done this before, and it really opened my eyes as to how fast they grow up.  I guess his little baby-brain figures that the "lunch truck or "meals on heels" is his personal restaurant, and the kitchen's not closed till he says so!
