April 20, 1999 appeared to be just any other
school day for the student's in attendance at Columbine High School in
Littleton, Co.
Some were in the library, some were in the cafeteria, some were in class, and still other's lounged casually about the grounds. They had no idea of the events about to take place. Two students, Eric Harris & Dylan Klebold had other ideas as to how this day would go. Afterall, they had spent nearly a year planning for it. Calling themselves members of a group named "The Trenchcoat Mafia", they had become fascinated with Hitler, control, bombs, firearms, etc. They both apparently suffered deep emotional problems which they felt were directly related to the fact that they "felt" they were unacceptable to the other students at Columbine. So, on April 20, they decided to arm themselves with homemade bombs and many firearms to act out their revenge against Columbine HS students, faculty, the people of Littleton, and even they themselves would die before the day ended. When all was said and done, Harris and Klebold had not only killed themselves, they had also taken the lives of 13 other innocent people including a teacher at Columbine. There were many others seriously wounded that remain hospitalized even at this time. Eric Harris was 18 years old and Dylan Klebold, 17. Their victim's ranged in ages from 14 to 47. This site is placed here to remember those losses. |
