The Eccher's Wish All Our Friends
and Family A Wonderful Holiday Season!

The most joyous season of the year is upon us. It is a time to welcome family and friends into the warmth of our homes and hearts. At our home, we have made it traditional to celebrate our segment of the holiday on Christmas Eve. This leaves Christmas Day to visit other relatives, attend church services or enjoy friends who stop in. Our extended family, over the years has made every effort to be home for the holidays. With them as far away as Germany, most years, they have returned to the family home and brought love and good cheer to our Christmas Family Celebration. Like so many families, we celebrate in the traditional ways, but, we have also created some of our own traditions.

Each year, it is customary to put up 2 trees. A tall, thin tree is erected in the family room and decorated with Santas & Angels. This is the "grandchildren's tree." After we have polished off every crumb of a yummy buffet, everyone helps clean up and it is off to the family room. Grandpa dons his Santa Hat and hands out the gifts to the youngsters who have barely contained their excitement of the event. Parents get to sit with the children and enjoy the delighted ooh's and aah's, as many colorful gifts are excitely torn into.

While the children are examining and playing with the bounty, the parents all go to the living room. A large tree with an extensive ornament collection graces a corner and casts a fairy tale glow over the area. We love the holiday season and decorate all the rooms, so Christmas is evident everywhere you look. Once again, Grandpa plays the role of Santa for the adults. We try to personalize as many gifts as possible, paying close attention over the course of the year to needed or wanted items. Seems no one ever goes home disappointed! Depending on the fickle Wisconsin weather, there are numerous places where beds are set up and whoever wants, sleeps overnight. Mom and Dad retire knowing the fold is safe, happy, over-indulged and have full tummys!

Once again, I wish to thank Rita Pietz for the lovely graphics I have used on this page. She offers her graphics free for those of us less talented as she. Please visit her and support her efforts!
