I've enjoyed your web page thoroughly. My wife and kids saw some kind of shore bird in a stream in the next town from ours. they were trying to describe it tome, as something of a small egret or heron. It almost sounds like a night heron but i get contrad cting descriptions."its sort of fat like a hawk, with legs not as long as a heron,but it looked like a seagull", that sort of stuff. So i was looking for a web site to find some shore birds to show them and i stumbled onto your web site. I'm impressed that you are sixteen and have such a neat hobby, also your sisters...I have two birdfeeders and just love watching the birds outside my kitchen window...I have had cardinals bring their babies and once I had a blind mockingbird (although he idn't eat any seed) just ended up on the perch. And I think I have the yellow and red finches, also. Several black capped chickadees and nuthatches and the sparrows, etc. come...you probably have different birds up north than we do down south. Anyway, njoyed your page and I'm going to look at your bird pictures now. Good luck in your hobby, you sound like a great bunch of kids.

Very nice web site, Benjiman. I have a wild little Chickadee who has been "flitting" around my yard, coming to my windows and watching me work (I have my office at home) and is the most adorable thing. I haven't figured "her" (just a guess) out yet. Sh is the cutest thing, and really seems to follow me around on the outside of the house, from room to room. If I haven't opened my curtains or blinds in a room I am in, she seems to be at that window, "telling" me to open it up. I don't know if it is jus my imagination or not, but she sure has been a pleasant addition to my days. I talk to her, and she seems to know my voice well, and she looks my way. Since I work at home, I am on the phones the majority of the day. I think she has grown accustomed t my voice and that is why she seems to have "attached" herself to me. She isn't this way with my husband at all. In fact, when he comes around me outside, she will back off. Too funny!!! Anyway, I am going to read your articles with joy, and wish you wonderful future that you seem to have a perfect start to. You have a very nice site.I have a small backyard habitat and have registered with the National Wildlife Federation.We have planted shrubs,prennials,annuals that attract the wildlife.We also feed the birds with bird feeders.The four main ingredients for a backyard habitat are to have food, water,shelter,and place to raise their young.We hav done all this.We also have a small pond we made with running water to help attract the birds.The Mass.Audubon recently had a feature article of our backyard in their magazine ,which was very nice. We have made a video of our habitat and how we put it together. Keep up your good work.

My friend Doris and I drove down the Mississippi river to Lake Pepin area. We went over to Wisconsin at Wabasha. During our trip we saw 28 eagles, one was right in a tree by the road, 1 blue Heron, 3 hawks (don't know what kind) 1 red winged blackbird, pair of Mallard ducks, 1 pair of Canada Geese. Had a wonderful day. 50+ degrees temp and windy. Raining all night. I really do enjoy your posts. I'm so glad that I found this site. I especially enjoy reading your journal, and learning that we have the same birds that you see here in Fort Worth at our feeders. But I've never had more than 40 mourning dove at my location. I can't believe you've seen sooooo many. With our flock of mourning doves is a lone white wing dove who seems to feel right at home. We also have 4 to 6 inca doves every day. Do you participate in Cornell's Project Feeder Watch? If not you should. Thanks for sharing your love of birds in Cyberspace.

I think your site is cool! I was trying to find info.on Hawks in N.J.when I found your site.I have two Hawks that come around a couple times a week at different times and I'm trying to find out what they are.I have 7 Diff.type of feeders and they bring in a lot of diff.birds,squirrels,groundshogs,so I guess that calls the Hawks in too.Their cool to watch,until my wife sees one catch a squirrel,Then we all run for the hills.Ha Ha.I tell her thats Mother Nature,but that does't seem to help.Well gota run,good luck with your site.
