Mother:	Elizabeth Smith - born Smith in Bunwell, no date of birth known. Married John Smith 25 December 1879, in the Parish Church, Bunwell. Acting as witnesses were John Arnold and Ellen Smith.
According to the 1891 census (Public Record Office Reference RG 12/1546), the information regarding his brothers and sisters are as follows:
Brothers:		James - 10 years old. Austin - 6 years old. Bert - 2 years old.
Sisters:		Rosa - 11 years old. Aida - 5 years old. Ellen - 4 years old.
Information regarding Frederick Ernest Smiths life as an adult:
Frederick E. Smith came to South Africa for short service as a soldier in the Anglo-Boer War. His attestation form dates March 5^th 1901, Parish Bunwell, 10^th Battery Imperial Yeomanry. According to his military records his height was 5 feet 7 inches, complexion dark, eyes grey and hair brown. He was discharged from the military August 9^th 1902. He returned to Britain briefly, but returned to South Africa to marry Miss M. Swart on October 4^th, 1911.
