Frederick E. Smith
came to South Africa for short service as a soldier in the Anglo-Boer War.
His attestation form dates March 5th 1901, Parish Bunwell, 10th
Battery Imperial Yeomanry. According to his military
records his height was 5 feet 7 inches, complexion dark,
eyes grey and hair brown. He was discharged from
the military August 9th 1902. He returned to Britain briefly, but
returned to South Africa to marry Miss M. Swart on October 4th,
1911. |
