Samuel Rogers was born in Cobb County Georgia to William and Frances (Simpson) Rogers. He grew up in Cobb and (later) Paulding Counties, in a farm family. He married Margaret Lucinda Tidwell, on 24 Oct 1878.

Margaret Lucinda Tidwell was the great-granddaughter of Siki Youngdeer (full-blood Cherokee) and his wife, Winnafred "Winnie" Tidwell ("white"). Her ancestry will be listed on the following pages.

Samuel and Lucinda lived for a short time with Samuel's widowed mother in Paulding County, but moved to Rome, in Floyd County Georgia soon after the 1880 census was taken. The family came to Indian Territory before 1896 and Lucinda and her children were re-admitted to citizenship in the tribe. Lucinda died 1 May 1899 of tuberculosis.

          Their children were:

SAMUEL M. ROGERS, born 26 Sep 1881, Floyd Co GA- died 9 Apr 1916 at Stillwell, Adair Co, OK of tuberculusis. Married "Mollie". He applied for participation in the payment and was rejected on Guion Miller #26157.

WILLIAM M. ROGERS, born 22 Aug 1884 Rome, Floyd Co GA He died 3 May 1952 at Adair, OK. He is buried in the Pleasant Hope Cemetery, 3 miles north and 2 miles west of the town of Adair. ANDREW W. GRADY ROGERS, born 14 Sep 1890, Rome, Floyd County, GA.. He died 29 May 1960 in Stillwell, Adair County OK. Andrew was enrolled by the Dawes Commission as #22687, Census Card #831, and his land was allotted north of Catoosa, Cooweescoowee District, an area that, after statehood, was located in Rogers County OK (T-20N R-14E, blk 1). Because the two younger children were under age, Samuel Rogers filed Guion Miller application #26157, for payment on their behalf. It (as the others) was rejected.

Samuel and Lucinda were my great-grandparents.
