The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23

Hi! I'm Jacob! I am 7 as of 9/17/2000 and I love to read! Let me tell you all about it...

I love to learn. That picture of me is from when I was almost 6 years old. Now I can read anything. I like to do things, real things, just like I read them. And I really love to draw pictures of things, too.

We use Sonlight curriculum (that's Sonlight-curriculum.com) and Miquon math. I go to the North Austin Homeschool Co-op and our church homeschool support group does field trips together.

Mom has made some cool games for me to play to learn more about writing words, using some flashcards. I love to read chapter books like the Laura Ingalls Wilder books, The Mouse and the Motorcycle and other books by Beverly Cleary, Charlotte's Web, The Trumpet of the Swan and other books by E.B. White, and Mr. Popper's Penguins. I am REALLY into HANK THE COWDOG right now. I also like to have computer time, and I have been using JumpStart 3rd Grade Adventures. I still like to use the Edmark Early Learning House series to explore about Reading, Science, Math, Geography, and Time and other things; Reader Rabbit 1; All-in-One Language Fun, and Peter and the Wolf. (When Mommy first brought it home, I thought it was about the High King Peter fighting the bad wolf in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe...) But I'm really outgrowing all those and usually choose Sid Meier's Civilization II when I have computer time.
I am very interested in reading about Battles and Kings. (That's why I like Civilization.) Some other books that are my favorites are some library books I've picked up and The Defenders, by Ann McGovern, which is about the Indians being driven from their land and the bravery of the great Indian leaders Osceola, Tecumseh, and Cochise. I drew a picture about that last summer when I was 6. This is it:

In case you can't read the writing, it says: "Instead he drew out his hunting knife then he plunged the knife into the treaty paper pinning it to the rough pine table. This is the onley [sic] treaty I make with the whites."

I also love to watch Zaboomafoo at PBS.org. I also like to watch Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, when my mom will let me, because I love answering the questions, especially when I know the answer and the people on TV don't. That happens sometimes. I should be on that show.
I also like to play at the Frogland website.

Here I am in another photo, last March when I was 5 and a half.

Here I am at age 4, using the "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons" book. I thought it was fun at first, but then it was boring. I quit at lesson 39.

My Mommy will scan some newer pictures of me soon, I hope.
