After doing genealogy on my family for the past 10 to 11 years and running my genealogy page since 1997, I made my first verifiable family connection a few years ago!!

I received an e-mail from someone looking to see if we were possibly related. Her name is Julia Giannos (Maiden name Batson) and after several information exchanges, we determined that we are third cousins. This was an exciting find for us both, and as I get time, I will upload some more pictures in to my photo album!

To understand how Julia and myself are related, here's what we discovered:

My Great-Grandfather Joseph Turner Batson and Julia's Great-Grandfather Edward Earl Batson were brothers!

My Grandfather Turner Elliott Batson and Julia's Grandfather Homer Newton Batson Sr. were first cousins

My Father, Stephen Turner Batson, Sr. and Julia's Father, Homer Newton Batson Jr. are second cousins!

Finally, this makes me (Greg Batson) and Julia third cousins!!

I'm very pleased that I've made this connection and it renews my interest in continuing to research my family heritage. I obtained pictures that I would have otherwise not known to have existed at all, and I found some family in the process!
