God Bless You

I'm glad you came to visit. Please sit down & make yourself at home. Grab a cup of coffee and relax while I tell you a little about myself.

I came into this world in 1931, in the small town of Visalia, CA. At 12 noon on the 20th of Oct. Homer and Roxie Robinson welcomed their second baby daughter who weighed in at a whopping 10 lb 8oz. - me . Not quite 2 years later my sister Ida & I were joined by brother, Gene. A couple of years after that along came another brother, Elwood, who completed the family

Just before my 7th birthday our mother was taken from the family. My Dad, who was a truck driver, being a widower soon realized that he couldn't properly care for 4 small children so he took us to live with his in-laws. My grandparents lived in a small farm community in the center of California's San Joaquin Valley . Our growing up years were happy ones with open fields to run and play in and all the warmth and love needed to nourish a healthy mind and body. We might have been poor in the monetary standard but were unaware of it because we were so rich in every other way.

When I entered High School, it wasn't long before I met and "fell madly in love" with Tony Silva, who was a Jr while I was a Freshman. After 4 years of an 'on again-off again' romance, we were married on Aug.4th 1950, just 2 months after my graduation. Our marriage has been blessed with 6 children, 19 grandchildren and,so far, 6 great grandchildren.

My 6 are Toni, Rick, Nick, Rob, Pat and Tina. It might be interesting to note that the 2 girls are the oldest and the youngest, and they share the same birthday. Tina was born on Toni's 11th birthday, which was a good thing as Toni had asked a good friend of ours if she could live with them if Mama brought home another rotten boy!

Right after we were married Tony did a 4 year hitch in the Navy, which brought us to San Diego in 1951. In April of 1965 we bought our home in Lakeside, and it looks like we will remain here until they carry us away.

After all of our offspring were grown and out on their own Tony and I shared our home with Tony's mother for a number of years. In 1995 she had a couple of strokes and was unable to care for herself. She was bedridden & completely helpless for 3 years. We finally had to place her in a care center when she got to be just to much for me to handle. We lost her in May of 1999,just afterher 91st birthday. I'm made a "Memorial"page for her. It isn't complete yet as I will be adding pictures of her through the years, but it'll take me some time to dig them out of boxes and albums.

Now that we are both retired and don't have to worry about getting to work every day Tony spends a lot of his time in the garage working on Radio Control Model Airplanes & takes them out to fly a couple times a week. I was always a very active person and busy at something, working in the yard, redoing rooms in the house, trying out or learning new things. I always seem to have a numerous projects going on. I owned a ceramic shop for quite a few years. I was, and still am, an avid reader. I used to relax in front of the TV in the evening with some crocheting, knitting, or such to keep my hands busy while watching movies or something on TV. But it seems that all of those activities have taken a back seat since I found the Internet. Now I find myself sitting in front of another type of screen while keeping my fingers busy on the keyboard and mouse.

In the last few years I have made some wonderful friends on the internet. I was lucky enough to become involved with an email group Unique Friends.

In Unique Friends the very first group I was in was the "Wind Bags" and we bonded so well that we stuck together to become a permanent group. Later on we merged with another group "The Sand Box" and combined the names to become"The Sandbaggers".

Over Labor Day Weekend of 1997 the Sandbaggers had a picnic in Pennsylvania. I ran away from home for 10 days to attend and it was truly one of the happiest times of my life. Here are 20 pictures of the Picnic, please be patient for it will take some time to download.

This isn't all of the Sandbaggers as not all were able to attend. We had another get together in Nashville in Aug. 1998. Tony went with me to that one and it was really one wonderful experience, and now know what the term "Southern Hospitality" is all about.

I would like you to meet a few more of my Friends and visit their Home Pages

I'm building a new page to contain some things that have caught my interest from various sites on the Internet, found in magazines, read in the news or received in email. It can be found at:
