I Asked You to Respond..........
And You Did!
Hi, I have been reading your article about abortion, and I can strongly say
that I do not agree with you. In Sweden, we have a law that tells us that
abortion is right until the 15:th week. Dcotors says that the child, or
unborn child, has ful felling after the 12th week. What do you think about
that kind of law? We can discuss this questions in years, and the question
about when a life take start is a big thing! But I really hope we can all
agree that this little childs life has started when is it capable to feel
pain! right?
Well I absolutely disagree with that. First, just because something is a law does not make it right. We have all seen this since the beginning of organized leadership and government. And second, I believe it is absolutly ludicrous to belive that the ability to feel pain is what signifies life. If that were true we should be able to kill anyone and everyone with particular handicaps such as paraplegics. Since they can't feel pain or any other sensations, they must not be alive? Is this really your assertion? Not only does it defy basic moral principles, it defies logic! Again, life come from life. Two living cells do not create a dead cell which springs to life at some later point.JLG
your a idiot who bases everythign on opinions and your own made up inferences.
lol, i just noticed y our emails is sensible one... lol
ROFL I just noticed you lack a sense of reality, proper grammar, and the capacity of logical thinking. But thanks for stopping by!JLG
I am all for affirmative action, but only when it is done right. No one wants to be the "token black" or hired just because of the color of their skin. The fact of the matter is that discrimination has existed for hundreds of years, and it will not go away just by willing it to happen. Action is needed.
By the way, I am an educated, professional, ambitious Caucasian/African American/American Indian Female from a broken home in a poverty-stricken, predominately black neighborhood with sub-standard schools, and no one has ever given me anything I did not strive for and deserve.
Well it sounds to me like we agree. I'm not saying do away with Affirmative Action (or another like working differently named system) I just believe it should be done properly and fairly. Anyone, not just blacks, can be found disadvantaged. Let us not assume that the color of ones skin, background, ethnicity, etc. dictates ones abilities.JLG
You asked for peoples opinions and then you get defensive when they reply. Maybe you shouldn't ask for peoples views and comments if your not ready to defend yourself. My whole argument is that you don't know what a rape victim feels, and you turn this into a debate about abortion? Well sorry for wasting my time, because you obviously have no idea what your talking about.
If I ask for peoples' responses then defend my stance how could you say "Maybe you shouldn't ask for peoples views and comments if your not ready to defend yourself"? Wow, talk about contradictions. Its quite simple, I put info out there for anyone to read. Someone responds, I reply, they reply, its called a discussion. Two people don't have to agree to have a discussion. We obviously disagree but that doesn't mean I can't continue to inform you of my stance. I am more than prepared and willing to defend my views and tell you exactly why I believe them so this "Maybe you shouldn't ask for peoples views and comments if your not ready to defend yourself" comment is the most out of place thing I've seen. As for the 'not being a rape victim myself' argument, its called empathy (look it up). "...and you turn this into a debate about abortion?" Uh, well, since you read my ABORTION article and started putting forth arguments regarding ABORTION, yes, it would be an ABORTION debate/conversation/discussion.JLG
I'm looking for opinion pieces re: school uniforms (pros and cons). Also,
I'm curious to know exactly who United Sensible Americans are. Are you
affiliated with any other groups, do you have a statement of purpose or
values? I'd be interested in seeing a copy. Thanks.
You are welcomed to use portions of my article on the subject, so long as proper credit is given. I've searched the web for good common sense articles on school uniforms, and came up empty handed. United Sensible Americans is a group of modest proportions which I formed not even a year ago. Our mission is to inform as many people as we can of the lack of morals that plagues our nation as well as how to remedy our sad condition. JLG
I truly think you should add more information on the topics you have exposed. To make viewers interested in learning about this reasonable topics pictures or other dynamics of this sort would really suite this situation. I am a young viewer interested in learning about the Military and more about the school uniforms.
Being interested in those topics I was extremely decipointed that the dynamics are all based on words. As young as I am I could personally tell that that information on all those subjects were not just for adults but kids would not enjoy but would appreciate pictures to suite the information said.
Being young doesn't mean I/other younger adults perhaps 10-13 of those ages can't read but being a reader doesn't mean you shouldn't have to have pictures. I'm not defending you of any sort. But would deeply enjoy some pictures or less words. I know I can't change your page of all those topics but perhaps I will visit in the future and see a change of more information in pictures and fewer adult words/or just fewer words. A concerned younger adult trying to improve. Please contact me.
You stated that you desired more "information" for each of the topics appearing on my web site. Yet later you stated that pictures would help satisfy that desire. Pictures for viewing pleasure and solid information are two separate things. Which are you really looking for? You mentioned you were younger and have an interest in the Military. The Women in the Military article was written to fight the idea that women cannot appear in combat situations. I did NOT write that article to give general information concerning the ARMY. I'm sorry you were disappointed in what you found on my site but these articles are geared for people who desired the info, who can read, understand, and have the capability to examine their own beliefs on said topics. I did NOT design my page for the pure viewing pleasure of children. I want to communicate certain opinions and facts. To do that, I use words,
supported by images. JLG
Hi! I agree with your idea about rights of expression. I am a college student and I am writing a paper on this topic. I noticed that you didn't include the positive things that come from wearing uniforms. I do not necessarily think students should be made to wear uniforms, but I do think they have certain advantages. In some of the research I have done, I have
found that this practice generally helps to reduce violence and other problems in schools. I also agree that it is the parents responsibility to raise their children properly, but what about the children that are raised right and then are exposed to those who were not. Peers are a major influence on children while at school. What about the child that was raised right and then killed by the one who wasn't? If uniforms can stop the death
of one child, aren't they worth it? I don't mean to be disagreeable. I really just wanted to get more of your ideas about this. With your permission, I would like to incorporate some of your stuff in my paper, with proper citation of course.
Sincerely, ME8396
I hope some of the info in my article was of help to you for your paper on school uniforms. You have my permission to quote portions of my article, if proper credit is cited in your paper.
You stated that I did not include positive advantages to wearing school uniforms. Reason being, I disagree with the implementation of such uniforms. I'm all for a dress code, however, a dress code and a uniform are two separate things. Where did you obtain the info on uniforms decreasing violence? I would just like to know the source. I am of the firm belief that many, if not all, of today's societal problems can be traced back to the home. School uniforms neither promote nor decrease violence. The mindset and heart of an individual
dictates such behavior. Parents need to raise their children with proper morals and teach them the importance of human life and meaning of a dress code. Parents should NOT leave this duty in the hands of school boards to mandate uniforms. As I said, dress codes and uniforms are two different things. I agree that peers have a great bearing on youth and adults alike. One child being the victim of a violent peer is horrible, but thinking a
uniform can prevent such violence is ludicrous. Parents need to turn off violent TV shows, violent computer games, and teach them right from wrong. Why would someone think that at age 15 (or whatever) a school board could slap a uniform on a student who has a history of violence or the knowledge that something "just isn't right," and expect that
uniform to stop him/her from that violent behavior? "NOT GONNA HAPPEN!" JLG
I found your little essay on gun control very impressive and I couldn't agree with you more on the subject!! Keep up the good work. Amy.
Thank you for your encouraging comment! It helps! JLG
I totally agree with what you said. All though to be a good argument you have to be able to see it from both sides. On the other side I see this. Some students come from a poorer family and therefore they might not be able to buy the "in" clothes. The special shoes and clothes. Parents might also want uniforms for their children because their children are always depressed and gloomy and therefore if they wore uniforms they would look like everyone else and might feel better about themselvs. But when you think about it, it doesn't matter if the students are wearing uniforms or not because they will still express what's on the inside. If all the clothes are the same the shoes won't be and neither will the hair. The difference is the "in" group will have the "in" hair and shoes. So the bottom line is "uniforms don't do squat."
Here's my response to the arguement premise: If parents would teach their children proper right from wrong, less kids would react to the distinction between the "haves" and "have-nots." OK, maybe we can all recognize the two groups, but teach the youth that it doesn't matter. "Ins" and "Outs" change all the time. Why should a pair of shoes stimulate holding a gun to someone's head? We're both right; uniforms neither promote nor decrease violence. The mindset and heart of an individual dictates such behavior. JLG
First of all please let me say that I really liked your site. I'm writing a speech on school uniforms and why they should be mandated. I think we can agree to disagree, but if you have the time I would appreciate a response to this letter. I agree that parents are the ones who should be responsible for teaching
their children how to behave in a healthy social environment and be respectful of authority. Please understand that when I say that, many parents are lacking in giving their children proper training I do not mean all parents. Personally, I think mine have done a fairly good job, but I can't stress enough that many adults are so wrapped up in their own lives and activities that they don't spend quality time with their kids. The average father spends 11 minuets with his children a week. As far as the benefits of wearing school uniforms, I think there are several; the first being that it reduces violent behavior. It seems like
there wouldn't be as much stealing of personal belongings like jackets or shoes because everyone wears the same thing; everyone appears equal. Because of this it might help there not to be as many cliques. As silly as it is, your personality is determined by the type of clothes you wear in high school. The "preps" wear the name brands (Tommy, Eddie Bauer, Gap, American Eagle etc.) while the skaters wear there long baggy pants and dark
T-shirts with Nirvana or 9 inch Nails logos, the jocks wear the Adidas and Nike stuff etc..
Besides there are other ways to express yourself. You can dress how you want on the weekends, anywhere you want. You decorate your room, maybe cover your notebooks, bookbag, and even your car with bumper stickers about the things that YOU are interested in. School uniforms are actually cheaper to buy than normal school shopping b/c your school chooses a
particular company and you get a mass price discount. The average school uniform only costs $15-30 and so even if you buy 2 or 3 you save from the average $150 that parents spend on their kids each year. Anyway, I wanted to give you something to think about and ponder over, please feel free to respond or put this on your site. Thanks for your time. JoAnna
First, let me ask where you obtained your info on fathers and time spent with their children? What was your source? Clothes do NOT dictate behavior. The mindset, properly trained conscience, and heart of an individual dictate behavior. Allow me to modify one of your statements. You stated, "Personality is determined by the type of clothes you wear...." Incorrect. The clothes worn are determined by personality. For example, my husband's personality can be partly seen in the clothes he chooses to wear. However, he may once sport an outfit that maybe "isn't quite him" without actually changing his personality. His personality remains the same. Let me stress this, dress codes and uniforms are two very different things and I'm all for dress codes. I must, however, draw the line at uniforms. JLG
DITTOS!!! DITTOS!!! I agree with your article on uniforms. I am trying to gather information from parents in public schools on uniform issues. Both the GOOD and the BAD. I want to know the impact this is having on teachers and students and the aministrators. Can you direct me? Is there already such a
web site? I want this for our particular school district is rapidly going to all uniforms. We need some "ammo" on our side. People don't realize that they have relinquished one of their most valued rights when they allow the schools and school administrations dictate uniforms to our children -- the
right to choose. Many say because it is easy. Well, freedom of choice is never easy! But I'll take mine any time. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Again, thank you for visiting my site. Researching the effects of new uniforms on teachers, administrators, and students alike, would be very interesting. Let me know what you find. JLG
Your debate about school uniforms was exactly what I was thinking. I feel the same way and I am a student wearing these horrible things. Thank you for sharing your mind (and convincing my parents to opt me out).Lauren
I just want to say your artical on abortion changed my whole way of thinking. I want to thank you.
I'm glad I was able to persuade you. That makes it worth my time. I just can't sit back and watch infanticide take place in our country. Abortion is murder and murder is wrong. JLG
Abortion is awful. It is just killing a human being. People say that isn't true because the baby isn't really "here yet" but it's still a living organism and deserves to be treated like one!
(APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE!!) JLG
