LOVE & STUFF

Because of the distance and the loneliness of prison life, sometimes it is difficult to keep relationships together through periods of long incarcerations. This page is filled with links and information on how to help cope with having your loved one far away and hopefully give you some ideas on how to help keep those home fires burning.

            From Martha:

"1. I write down lyrics to new released songs that I like and sometimes even old songs just to dedicate to him and have him remember them from when he was out.

            2. I cut cute pictures out of the gossip papers and newspapers. Examples: cute animals, cartoons, couples, etc.

            3. I plan a picnic for the two of us including pictures of food that I find in the paper so he knows exactly what we are having."

            From C. Smith:

"My husband and I have the same picture, it is of he and I kissing in those photo booths! Anyway, every night at 10:30 we both kiss it, and it feels like we are kissing each other. It just connects us."

            From "henrykidd":

"One night, while talking on the phone, we discovered that the sky looked the same in both places...same colors in the sunset, same stars, same moon. We agreed to look at the same star every night at the same time and think of each other. Another thing we share is when I hear a special song that relates to us, knowing that he may not have heard it or that if he has he can't have the tape, I write down the words to send to him. (I don't want to miss a thing, Desperado, How do I live, etc."

            From Teresa:

"My husband and I have many times decided what we were going to visit in our dreams each night. We would think about a place as we went to sleep, at the same time, prearranged, and often thinking about it would bring on a dream of us together in that place. At any rate, it brought us emotionally closer together."
