the many memories of you

You overcame so many problems
in those first few years
always had someone poking at you
yet, with a minimal amount of tears.
Some saw you as handicap
I saw you as my son
and all the skills that were asked of you
you accomplished every one.
No room for self-pity
you didn't have time for that

I always knew when you were up to something
by that devilsh grin beneath your hat.
In ten short years you left your mark
in the hearts of those you knew
the funny stories that they share with me
are what help me to make it through.
But, so often when I think of you
I do nothing else but cry
because my heart's so badly broken
and I don't understand why you had to die.
Forever in my heart
that's where you'll always stay
I send my hugs and kisses to you in Heaven
until we are together again someday.
