Welcome traveler. My name is Galen and I live in these woods. I have a wonderful wife, Mary, who has put up with me for these 30years. We have 2 sons, Heath and Erick. Heath is 30and married to Candice. They have 2 boys, Brayden who is 3 and Chandler who just turned 2. Erick is married to Mandy and they have 3 kids, Brianna who is10, Brenden who is 4, and the newest addition, Mackenzie, who just turned 2. Needless to say, the woods get pretty noisy when all the kids are here. All of the kids love to play in the woods, and I have been teaching them that we are the guests here. The woods belong to the animals that call this forest their home. As you walk through these woods you will see many animals, a rabbit may scurry out from under your feet, or a squirrel may scold you from a tree limb. You might see a white-tailed deer or maybe even a black bear that is making their way back to these woods. The sly fox and the bobcat are more of the animals that you may see as you wander the trails that wind through the forest The eerie call of the coyote, the lonely howl of the wolf, or the call of the hawk or the scream of a eagle are just some of the many sounds that you may hear as you wonder from hill to holler. Feel free to stop at the streams and ponds in the woods. The streams have the purest water that you will find in these parts, and some of the fiestist trout that you have ever seen. Purhaps you can entice one of them to bite if you are skilled with a rod and reel. The ponds are a haven for catfish and perch, and they make mighty good table fair if you lucky enough to catch a few. The forest is a wonderful place full of all manner of creatures. Remember when you are here that this is their home and we are the visitors. Treat it as you would want someone to treat your home, and we will all have the honor of being able to walk in nature's wonder for a long time to come. Feel free to stop in as often as you like, because in the forest, things are always changing. |

If you stop and listen, the woods seem to come alive around you. You can hear all the wonderful sounds from insects and animals all around, most of them that you can't see. Can you imagine what these woods were like hundreds of years ago? Most of the animals that we see now would still be here, but there would also be many more that we have only read about. You might come apon a unicorn as it grazes in the forest, or happen apon a cave that is the home to a dragon. We would also meet many new and different people in the woods. You might come apon a wizard or warlock, wandering the woods in search of new magic potions or spells. Crossing a bridge, you may hear the sounds of a sleeping troll, or a grumpy ogre. You could even see a fairie or a wood sprite flitting through the trees. The people were different then, and they lived with and understood the forest people and the creatures better than we do today.I wish that I had lived in those times as well, to see all the wonderful people and creatures that we can only read about in history and fantasy books. One of these days, if we just believe hard enough, maybe they will live again, and once again, a dragon may fly across the evening sky, on it's way to some mountain lair. |
