Reptile Salmonella Warning
Salmonella is a bacteria that is sometimes present in Reptiles. From what I've read so far
though, the most common occurance is with Iguanas. Still, if you own any reptile, it's
best to take precautions. Most people have heard that
chickens in the United States have a high occurance of Salmonella. To cure the chickens,
you are supposed to cook them good. Well, I'm sure you don't want to cook your turtles,
but it is wise to wash your hands after handling them or fooling around with their living
quarters. Kids especially should be taught to wash their hand after fooling around with their
turtles. Kids hands have a high probably of ending up in their mouths, so teach them well.
In the meantime...
