THE JERUSALEM ROAD

Picture of a Jerusalem - Damascus Gate.

The following Old Testament scriptures were written hundreds
and some even thousands of years before the birth of Jesus Christ.
They explain that our sins have separated us from God and that
God promised to send a Savior, God in human flesh, to die in our place:
taking the penalty for our sins, so that we, through faith in Christ,
could be forgiven by God and receive the gift of eternal life.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Jeremiah 17:9

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;
and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Isaiah 64:6

Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy,
that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God,
and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Isaiah 59:1-2

The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the
father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness
of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
Ezekiel 18:20

For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make
an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
Leviticus 17:11

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall
conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel (means God with us).
Isaiah 7:14

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah,
yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel;
whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Micah 5:2

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government
shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful,
Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end,
upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it
with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Isaiah 9:6-7

Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground:
he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him,
there is no beauty that we should desire him.

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief:
and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows:
yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way;
and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Isaiah 53:1-6

Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled
but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Psalm 2:12

And he (Abraham) believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
Genesis 15:6

Is the road you are on leading you towards God and a strong relationship with Him?
Or have you been running or drifting away from God?
Consider carefully where you are heading and make appropriate course corrections -
then move ahead in the right direction.

The gift of Godis eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

If you would like to be forgiven and pardoned by God for all of your sins,
you need to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
By so doing, you will receive God's grace and eternal life!

Here is a simple prayer you can pray to God right now if you are ready:

God, forgive me for all of my sins and come into my heart and my life.
God, I believe with all I understand that Jesus Christ is the Son of God
and that when Jesus died on the cross, He paid the penalty for my sins,
and then rose again from the grave on the third day.

I believe in Jesus and receive Him right now as my Lord and Savior.
Please help me to turn away from sinful thoughts and behaviors
and to live my life in the ways that are pleasing to You.

Thank you Father for forgiving all my sins and
giving me eternal life through Jesus Christ, my Lord.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
