Why are we in Canada?

I used to say I was a Canadian citizen with a British passport. As there are not going to be any more British passports - only European - I think I will stay at being a Canadian. After our last visit to England in May, 1996, I think I can honestly say "I came home". They always say you cannot go back and boy they were right. We immigrated 27 years ago and have only been back a few times, but I think I can safely say we will not be going back again. I paid to be a Canadian and it was money well spent. There are certain things I miss in England (Oh their Fish 'n Chips and that wonderful Bacon!) but I am now well and truly home. I wonder now if I missed England or whether it was missing people and family. I think we have changed too much now. We used to live in Thornton, just west of Barrie in Ontario, until we moved to Courtenay British Columbia recently. We (my husband Stan and myself) have two children - Stephanie, who has a teenage son, and Mark, who has three children. Stan used to commute to Toronto every day (about 60 miles/100 km south) while working for the TTC as a bus driver but retirement has finally arrived along with a major change in our lives by moving out west. I am no longer a beginner on the Internet thank goodness for good teachers and helpers - (My daughter and my friend Jim.) As time goes by I will visit many places on the Net and will want to let people know about some of those wonderful sites and where they are, so please check back often to check out the new and ever changing links and to keep updated on our retirement!
