AMY'S ADVENTURE: an adoptee's story

THE FLIGHT
©Amy,March 14, 1998

"Flight#3932 for DFW now boarding at gate 3"
With these words, I slowly get in line.
Questions, excitement filling my mind and heart.
Sitting on the plane is another reality check.
I try to stay calm; try, try, try....
I eat my pretzels and drink my Sprite as my hands continue to shake--nerves are shot!
The captain says "we're experiencing turbulence."
And I reply,"Great! This matches the turbulence I feel in my stomach"; the plane drops suddenly along with my stomach.
I am sitting under the wing, at the window, thinking about you--How are you? Are you pacing the floor?
My ears are clogged, my brain is numb, and my heart is racing!
"Thank you God,for this moment, for the chance to start our Forever Best Friendship"
It seems such a small prayer for a huge, monumental moment in both of our lives; there are no words to describe the gratitude I feel.
We are descending for landing..the future begins now!!

I wrote this poem during a time when I was really discouraged with my search. To all of those continuing in your search please don't ever give up.
My Unknown Stranger
©Amy on November 14, 1996
I am haunted by an unknown shadow, a faceless stranger in my dreams.
She is under my pillow, always silent, always waiting.
Waiting for me, and only me.
She comes ever so slowly, but quite suddenly too.
And with the same silent force, she takes over my dreams.
As I struggle to understand her presence, I am filled with such wonder and awe.
She flows through my dreams, with grace, and mystery enveloping her.
I’ve thought of giving her a name, but nothing seems to fit.
I have tried to find out her identity, but have had no success.
I am haunted by a faceless shadow,a stranger in my dreams.
Someday I will break the spell, but for now the mystery remains, rattling my brain and breaking my heart.
