The finished trunk

Chuck's interests are antiques, furniture refinishing and trunk restoration. His antique business "As You Were Antiques" carries an extensive line of unique country primitives. Lots of folk art items, old painted pieces, wainscot and pine. He also loves to collect and trade vintage motto plaques and tin lithograph toys such as sand toys, pails, drums and teasets.

Chuck has many spent many hours in his "labor of love" -- custom trunk restoration. It started with an old ugly trunk being transformed into a beautiful piece of furniture. Many people have old trunks, even family heirlooms sitting in basements or attics feeling neglected? He thought, "Why not refinish it and enjoy it." Trunks make wonderful treasure keepers. They have unlimited uses, at the foot of your bed or as a coffee table. The possibilities are endless. A beautiful refinished trunk makes a wonderful present to newlyweds, graduates or a new baby. It is a lifetime gift that will be proud to be handed down through the generations. His main objective is to restore each trunk to its original beauty, without sacrificing its character.

His wife, Tauy, shares his love of antiques. Their four children have each enjoyed collections of their own interests through the years, however now tend to refer to the antiques as "junk". Brandi, our daughter is married and she and her husband Ronnie have a one year old son, Pierce. Phillip, our oldest son, has made a career in the US Navy and is currently stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. Jeffrey, our middle son, lives in Weston and works for Beverly Lumber Company as a driver. Beau, our youngest son, is a junior at Missouri State University in Springfield, MO, where he is majoring in sports journalism and hopes to have his own sports talk radio show someday.
