Michaela came home a few days later. Everyone in the family made her stay in bed as much as possible. They washed the dishes, made food, and even gave her her food in bed. After a couple of weeks, Michaela was finally up and ready to be active again. She was sick of sitting in bed. "Now don't overdue it, Michaela. I will come for ya at noon so we can have some lunch alright?" Sully said to his wife as he kissed her lightly while standing outside the clinic door. "I won't Sully, I promise. With Colleen here, I know I won't be doing anything! See you at lunch!" She replied as she walked into her clinic. She was so happy to be back to work, but she knew that in a couple of months she would once again be leaving it to take care of the baby. She rubbed her very rounded stomach. She was almost seven months along and couldn't wait for this baby to be born. Her feet had started to swell and her ring was tight on her swollen fingers. Sully kept telling her that she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, but it was hard to believe him. She sat down by her desk and started looking over her patient records. A couple hours later, Sully walked into the clinic only to find his wife laying motionless on her desk. He smiled knowing that she fell asleep once again. No matter what, Michaela always managed to fall asleep anywhere and everywhere. "Michaela, wake up," Sully said softly as he bent down to eye level with Michaela. "Hmm.. oh Sully! I fell asleep! I was just looking over a medical journal and I guess I got tired!" She exclaimed as she yawned. "It's only healthy to sleep more, for you and the baby." Sully said as he rubbed the side of his hand along Michaela's cheek bone. She smiled and said, "Now I think we should have that lunch. I am rather hungry!" Sully held out his hand for Michaela so she could get up alot easier. It was becoming more difficult everyday with her stomach getting so large. Once she was up they walked out arm in arm to go and have lunch. "Ma?" Brian asked once again. Michaela was now over eight months pregnant. She felt huge and wanted the pregnancy to be over, she knew that it would be soon. Her back ached and her feet hurt. Sully tried to ease her pain but it was not easy. Sully never stopped complimenting her or keeping Michaela as high spirted as he could. "I'm sorry, Brian, what were you saying?" She came back to reality. "I was wonderin if it would be ok if I go and sleep by Matthew tonight? He wanted me to help him with some things tomorrow and I don't want to get snowed in. "I think that would be alright, as long as you make sure you finish your homework tonight. I don't want you to put it off just because tomorrow is Saturday." Michaela informed her son as she attempted to get out of the chair. "Oh, Ma, Matthew wanted me to bring Katie since he never gets to spend any time with her. Do you think it would be alright?" Brian added. Michaela looked at her son confused. Something was up his sleeve. "I suppose, as long as you make sure she is bundled up. Colleen is going to have her at the clinic so you can pick her up after school." "Thanks. I better go or I will be late for school." Brian quickly kissed her and ran out the door. "What was all that about?" Michaela asked Sully. "I have no idea, "Sully lied. He knew exactly what it was about. The kids wanted to do something special for Michaela, and let her have the night alone without the kids before the baby came in a matter of a few short weeks. "I think you do, Mr. Sully. I can tell when you are lying. This was your doing wasn't it?" She said with half a grin on her face. "Actually, the kids thought of it and asked me if it was ok. I told them it was. Is that alright with you?" Sully said he wrapped his arms around her. "It's more than alright. But I still got to get to the clinic today." Michaela added. "No ya don't, Colleen and Andrew will be in charge of that. Katie is already there. Colleen came before you woke up and took her, so I guess it's just you an me!" Sully smiled. "Hmm, sounds good to me," Michaela said. "Now the first thing I'm gonna do is make ya sit down." Sully led his wife to the chair and made her sit down. He sat down on the floor, picked up Michaela's foot and removed her stocking. He started to massage her feet. "That feels good Sully," Michaela murmured enjoying his touch. She shifted her weight when all of a sudden a sharp pain made her gasp. "What's wrong?" Sully quickly spoke up. "Oh, it's nothing. I just shifted wrong, I'm ok now." Michaela quickly reassured her husband. Sully looked out the window. "It's startin' to snow pretty hard," Sully observed. Michaela looked somewhat afraid. She hoped Brian made it safely into town, but in the back of her mind something else what distracting her. She didn't tell Sully, but she hadn't felt well that morning. It probably was nothing and she was getting herself worried over nothing, but she couldn't help but wonder. After a nice lunch together and some poetry Michaela was feeling uncomfortable and tired. "I think I will go up and take a nap. I'm rather tired, Sully," she informed him. "I think a nap sounds wonderful," Sully said. "I think I will join ya." He smiled and led her up the stairs. They both laid down in bed. Sully fell asleep rather quickly but Michaela was so uncomfortable. She couldn't seem to find a comfortable position. Her back kept throbbing ever so often and Michaela was so tired. Finally after what seemed like forever, she fell asleep facing Sully. Sully awoke a couple of hours later to see Michaela sleeping, he smiled at her until he saw that she was damp with sweat and a short moan would escape her mouth ever so often. He was immediately frightened. "Michaela? What's wrong? Wake up!" He yelled. CONTINUED |
