Auction Draft Day is an enigma (wow--I never thought I would use that word in a sentence!). Some love it, some hate it, and still others love to hate it, and some hate to love it. To some, Auction Draft Day is a day filled with excitement. To some others, it is a day to be feared, full of stress and anxiety. And to some, it is a good excuse to have a sandwich and chips!
Although it can be many different things to different team owners, one thing is certain: Auction Draft Day can make or break your team, and a couple of the chief strategies for drafting (and to have fun!) in CJRL is misinformation and hype. Not a player goes up for bid without a comment or two from some team owner who may be interested in the player out for bid, or who may just want the player's price to go higher, higher, and higher still. There just seems to be a special feeling in aiding one of your fellow team owners in acquiring Rafael Belliard for $2.50 ($10 in Rotisserie Dollars)!
Most of our "cross-talk" (a term coined by a former auctioneer who wanted order at our draft--I think we over-hyped that season!) is in fun and often sarcastic. But again, it is all in fun. As a veteran Rotisserie team owner, I can honestly say that Auction Draft Day is one of the most exciting days of the year, and also one of the most fun!
