At the onset, Friday night's 40 lap feature looked like it might be a battle between Radojcsics and King, but transmission problems prevented King from being there at the end. By the same token, it appeared that Gary Mann was cruising for the big bucks in his #17 Scottie's Vending Service/Busch Beer machine until a late race move by Radojcsics put his #43 Jimmy Langley Realty/Crump's Body Shop George McBunch-powered GDI race car into the lead position. The Tupelo native had been riding in third for most of the race waiting for his shot at the leaders, which he took with less than 10 laps remaining. Once out front, it was clear sailing all the way to the checkers for Radojcsics, although the waters got a little rougher when second place finisher Mann lodged a protest against him. After a lengthy delay for the engine teardown and inspection, Radojcsics was declared legal and allowed to pocket the two grand in prize money.
