As you can see, Tentative Date has had 4 foals make
the races. All are winners. Being bred to poor stallions she has still
managed to produce. We are hoping to upgrade her to better stallions in
hopes that she will produce a higher level runner. She was poorly managed
from her previous owners. She is a new purchase for us and we see some
potential. Her future is limited due to her age, however , we are hoping
to get 2 or 3 more foals from her. Starting in 1998 we hope to get her
to a much classier stallion than she previously has been to. The stallions
we are looking at for 1998 are a fine bunch at a reasonable price; Fit
To Fight, Alysheba, Dare and Go or Northern Baby. We have not decided as
of yet, however, we hope it will be one of these four. My top pick is Fit
To Fight.

98 IN FOAL TO SANDPIT
-
Foolery is a young mare
with alot of potential. If you look up her pedigree you will see the in-breeding
to the great Sea-Bird and the great bottom family she comes from. Her 4th
dam is a full sister to Menow and her 5th dam is none other than the great
mare Alcibiades. We are very excited for her chances to produce well. We
already have her in foal to a promising young son of Riverman. Most importantly
the mating reintroduces the heartlines asocciated with Alcibiades through
the broodmare sire of the mate. The broodmare sire is Sir Ivor whose 3rd
dam is a 3/4 sister to Hipparete(Foolery's 4th dam). Virginia Rapids was
a fine racehorse who ran 37 races at the top level. He was sound and most
of all very correct in conformation. Other stallions that fit our fee range
that we might try her with are; Stop The Music, Party Manners, Anjiz, or
Sandpit. My personal favorite is Sandpit. It has just
been announced that he will be standing for $5,000 at the Vinery. His fee
is within our range and it looks like she will have a date with him for
1998. Their bloodlines are very complimentary and we have high hopes for
this mating. He offers a daughter of Dan Cupid and his dam carries a full
sister to Sicambre and a half sister as well. It is a very exciting cross!!!!
Update!!!! Foolery
was booked to Sandpit(His book was full before he got to The Vinery, however,
the pedigree advison for The Vinery "Squeezed" her in his book) Foolery
is currently in foal from a March cover.
Another mate I like is Stop The Music. He
is our plan "B" stallion.

Sterling date is a lease and
we hope to breed her to this coming season. We like her because of
her soundness and the fact that her dam may not have many seasons left
due to her age. Hopefully we can get her owners to sell her, and it looks
like someday it may happen.(At least we can lease her) Her dam is a good
producer despite limited opportunities and we feel we can bring out the
best in her family by upgrading her pedigree. We are currently looking
at mates for her, and the possiblities are abundant. Quiet American is
probably her ideal mate, however, his stud fee might prevent such a mating.
He is beyond our fee limit. Other stallions with possibilities are,
Northern Baby, Signal Tap, Dare And Go or Friendly Lover. These stallions
all fit our range.
Minor problems caused
Sterling Date to miss a cover. Hopefully we will get her in foal
this coming year.

THE GRAY
NURSE gr f 94
This is our baby and the "ham
sandwich" of the bunch. I can't really get too excited about her because
her female family hasn't done too much lately. However, we will get a few
foals and see what happens. These foals will be as upgraded as possible,
for she may get turned down by most $5,000+ stallion managements. She does
trace to Nellie Flag in female line, is by a very well-bred son of Nijinsky
II and carries 30 dosage points, so we might be able to do something with
her. More than likely she will be the first cull of the clan after
future broodmare purchases. Hopefully she can produce a winner someday
and earn her keep. Never Wavering, Bound By Honor, and Buckhar are stallions
that fit our range for her and offer some very interesting linebreeding
opportunities. My top pick for her is Bound By Honor.
Update!!!!
The Gray Nurse diid not recover from her ailments quickly enough for a
mating this year, however, 1999 looks very prominsing!!

98 in foal to Mahogany Hall
Recusal is the newest member of our broodmare
band and is probably the best bred. She is by Raja Baba and her 2nd dam
is by Hoist The Flag. Her female family hails 2 Belmont winners and between
them can boast a Kentucky Derby win and a Preakness. When you see her pedigree
you will be quite impressed. It's too bad she was in the hands of
quarterhorse breeders early in her breeding career, however, when put back
into the thoroughbred scene you can see her mates are highly improved and
her last two foals look to have potential. The stallions we like with her
are; Majestic Light, Twilight Agenda, or Mahogany Hall. The top pick here
is Mahogany Hall. This mating is absolutely dynamic!!!!
Update!!!! No problems
here.
