European Tour - Summer '98

This successful project, which provides competitive opportunities in Europe for emerging elite athletes, continues for another summer. The identification of select athletes will be made to be reimbursed for the cost of the airline ticket and/or other expenses from housing and transportation in Europe. To be selected, athletes must register their interest in participating in this project by either

  1. completing an on-line application form - or

  2. requesting and returning an application form from Women's Distance Development Chairman Teri Jordan (follow this link to obtain Coach Jordan's address/phone)

The athletes to be invited will be determined by the selection committee of Terry Crawford, Peter Tegen, and Tom Fleming. The selection will be based on two criteria:

  1. Placing at the National Championships
  2. Time performance standards - minimum standards
    800m - 2:02
    1500m - 4:12
    5000m - 15:40
    10,000m - 32:50

Current budget levels will support 3 athletes per event group (800m, 1500m, 5000m, and 10,000m)
