Europe - Home Base Concept

This project would help to provide information on home base sites at U.S. Air Force bases in Europe for all qualified athletes. These bases typically provide low cost housing in an "Ameri-friendly" environment. The home base concept has proven to be a valuable asset for our athletes in previous years and helps to minimize the impact of travel on the European circuit.

U.S. Air Force Bases in Europe: The list (appearing as a graphic below) of U.S. Air Force bases in Europe is approved to support U.S. Olympic Committee programs. Athletes who are interested in utilizing this support should contact Kathy Sellers in the USATF National Office for assistance and registration. Keep in mind that, even if on-base lodging is not required, other logistical support is available for athletes traveling near these bases.

Lodging: Air Force lodging is $12-$18 per person per night for a standard room. Suites are $17-$30 per room for coaches and staff when available. The type and quality of the lodging normally depends on how far in advance the reservation is made. Unexpected military operations have priority over all reservations. If on-base lodging is not available, it is possible to make hotel reservations in the local area at military discount prices.

Storage: If equipment storage is required, advance arrangements must be made.

The List

The list appears below as a .jpg file graphic. If you are having trouble reading and/or printing the graphics, e-mail chapmar@phscare.org. Remember that athletes must register through the USATF national office to use these facilities.
