THE TOP 10 TAG TEAMS IN MMP HISTORY

1. HARBINGER & THE DESTROYER: Only tag team elected to the Hall of Fame as a duo…three time world tag team champions…loyal followers of The Cult Master…upset Captain Patrick O’Conner & The Ryno in a tournament to win their first title in early 1999…feuded with No Remorse for several months, both during the tournament and after winning the belts…swapped the championship with No Remorse in the spring of ’99…inconsistent at times but unbeatable when on their game.

2. UPSTANDING CITIZENS: Unlikely duo of Virus Richards and The Joker’s Child dominated the tag title scene over the summer of 1999…won the belts from Lone Gunz and defeated many top challengers in subsequent defenses…unbeaten as a tag team…personality clashes ended the assocation late in 1999 and the titles were vacated.

3. THE CONGREGATION: Super Cupid and Masochrist were easily the most hated tag team in the MMP throughout 1998…won the belts from 7th House late in the year and held them for several months…Ouija Lullabye substituted for Masochrist when the belts were lost, in a match against O’Conner and Gralen…Masochrist went on to a successful singles career, but when the team reformed in 1999 they accomplished little…competed once under masks as The Rapture.

4. NO REMORSE: Blitzkrieg and Machine Head brought a big reputation and the HWA tag team championship to the MMP in early 1998…with Blitz achieving success in singles competition, they didn’t team regularly until the title tournament in 1999…went undefeated in the round robin portion of the tournament but were upset by Harbinger and Destroyer in the elimination round…briefly held the title in the spring of ’99, winning the belts from and then losing them back to H & D…attempted to regain the belts against Upstanding Citizens several months later, but were unsuccessful.

5. 7TH HOUSE: Two time former tag team champions were Xenith Xavier and “The Demented” xXx…feuded with The Cosmic Connection after winning the belts from the GX Revolution….traded the belts with the High Society team in the summer of 1998…after losing the belts for the second time, this time to The Congregation, in September, the team split…West Law replaced Xavier, who went to the GWF and became world champion, but the new team didn’t fair nearly as well.

6. THE COSMIC CONNECTION: The team of Mr. Marvellous and Mr. Universe was also known as The Pinnacle of Perfection…members of High Society…won the tag titles from 7th House and held the belts during the brief period in the summer of 1998 when High Society controlled the world, universal, and tag titles simultaneously…serious conflict between Marvellous and Universe caused a split late in 1998, and both left the MMP soon thereafter.

7. HADES & BAITAL: Final MMP tag team champions held the belts on two occasions…originally became champions when Aries gave his half of the championship to Baital to try and force him to get along with Aries’ brother Hades…lost the belts almost immediately to Destroyer and Ben Childs, but won them back just as quickly and held off challenges from Falcon and The Punisher, Side Project, and Harbinger and The Destroyer…also held the ICW tag team belts.

8. DEATH & WOLVERINE: Makeshift duo surprised many by winning the tag team title tournament in March 2000 despite the fact that they hated each other...defeated The Bootlegger and Inferno in the final round….held the belts for a month and even defended them successfully on occasion…lost the belts in what many say was the best match in MMP history, the four team, three fall ladder match at Homicidal Tendencies in 2000.

9. CAPTAIN PATRICK O’CONNER & THE RYNO: Two lead members of The Untouchables didn’t team regularly, but were successful when they did…went to the finals of the tag title tournament in March 1999 before interference from Aries cost them the match…teamed again to defeat Virus Richards and The Bootlegger in the main event of Apocalypse that summer…both were better suited to singles competition.

10. BENJAMIN CHILDS & GEORGE ACHICA: Untouchables allies reunited after the death of O’Conner’s wife Paulina…defeated Virus Richards and Aries in a best-of-three series at Season’s Slayings ’99 to earn the number-one seed in the 2000 tag title tournament, but didn’t fare well…received a bye through the round robin and were upset quickly in the elimination round.
