WELCOME TO THE ESSEX SKATING CLUB OF NEW JERSEY
![]() |
The Essex Skating Club of New Jersey is in its 46th season and is comprised of over 350 active and associate members. We are a member club of the United States Figure Skating Association and are located at the South Mountain Arena, 560 Northfield Avenue, West Orange, NJ. We welcome any skater interested in the art and sport of figure skating along with a genuine desire to have a good time.
A Message From The President:
As you are probably all aware, the Essex Skating Club hosted the EASTERN SECTIONAL SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS for the year 2000. A wonderful start to the new millenium. This year we will be concentrating on Seminars and Test Sessions. The ESC Board is in the process of planning events for the 2000 - 2001 season. Information will be posted as it becomes available.

Club News:
SYNCHRONIZED SKATING NEWS AND
VIEWS
Many members of the Essex Skating Club
continue to be interested in synchronized skating. Unfortunately, this year we did not
have a team in the junior or adult catagories, however three of our club members are
skating on the PRECISELY RIGHT Skating Club of Morris Junior Team. We are
very proud of these young ladies and are sure they have a bright future with synchronized
skating. Congratulations to: SUZANNE HOPKINS, LAURETTE PARTRIDGE, and EMILY WALKER.
THE ESSEX MINI-BLADES, our Synchronized Team for very young skaters, continues to amaze
us. The team is coached by Geri Lynch and Carol Wick. There are now eighteen girls who have
shown astounding improvement in their individual skating skills and their synchronized
skating ability. Anyone interested in joining, (no experience necessary) please come
to the arena on Tuesday evenings, during the skating season, at 6:15 and bring your
skates. In an effort to encourage a developmental program for synchronized skating,
the Skating Club of Morris and the Essex Skating Club have decided to continue to combine
their efforts. Team placement sessions will be held at both the Mennen Arena and South
Mountain Arena over the summer. Click here for further
information. It is hoped that a minimum of three teams can be fielded for the coming
season. It's great fun!
BIG AND GETTING BIGGER - Our
membership continues to swell. We now have three hundred and fifty members in the Essex
Skating Club and of those, three hundred and twenty are home club Essex. We welcome all of
our new members, both home club and associate. We are pleased to have so many skaters from
New York join us and we will continue to provide the best sessions at reasonable fees. We
will very shortly be planning for next season and have already advised the South Mountain
Arena that we will probably need more ice to accomodate all of you. MANY THANKS FOR YOUR
SUPPORT.
It's Your Club !
The Essex Skating Club is administered by our volunteer members. We rely on our members to keep the club healthy and growing. Volunteers are always needed to help as substitute session monitors, test session hospitality volunters and test session assistants.
Please get
involved ! Without you our club is just a place to skate. The E.S.C. is rich in
skating history and has a reputation for being skater friendly. Lets continue the
tradition. If you wish to volunteer your time, any member of the Board of Trustees would
be glad to talk to you.
