Steve Testa Award Winners

The Steve "When You Need a Haircut and Can't Come to the JAM" Testa Memorial Award is presented annually by JAM Commissioner Mike Campoli to "the JAMmer who (turned) in the softest performance." It is represented by a bottle of L.A. Looks hair gel with the word "SOFT" across the bottom.

2000 -- NO PRESENTATION

2001 -- PETE CHEMA
Chema, the Blasters' pitcher in 1999 and 2000 and the Patches' pitcher the year before, failed to attend 2001: A Jam Odyssey on June 23, 2001.

2002 -- NO PRESENTATION

2003 -- GEOFF BOWLER
The nine-time JAMmer skipped The JAM to attend the Pennsylvania wedding of a friend of his fiancée. Bowler received the award by Federal Express at his hotel.

2004 -- CHRIS BLAKELY
Tied up at work, Blakely couldn't make the long-haul drive back to New York, thus missing The JAM.

2005 -- BRAD SHERMAN
Sherman skipped The JAM to attend his sister's graduation.

2006 -- JOHN LICHT
Concerned over field conditions, Licht left soon after arriving.

2007 -- NO PRESENTATION

2008 -- ED McDOWELL
McDowell missed his first JAM since 2001, refusing to leave a life of luxury in Brazil.
